Star Media Group Berhad and Shanghai Media Group have signed a memorandum of understanding, announcing the addition of the SMG branded video-on-demand offering on dimsum , the latest video on demand service, to provide a series of A-list and exclusive Chinese content.
Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Star Media Group Berhad and Ms. He Xiaolan, Vice President of Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group Co. Ltd/ General Manager of Shanghai Wings Media, Shanghai Media Group, signed the memorandum, which was jointly witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Ms. Qian Jun Jun, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, Chief of Political Section First Secretary.
Through this memorandum, Star Media Group Berhad and Shanghai Media Group agreed to finalize an initial cooperation term of 2 years. During this period, both parties will explore more areas of cooperation to further strengthen the partnership. At the same time, Star Media Group Berhad and Shanghai Media Group are committed to jointly explore and promote content across the South East Asian Region.
Today also marks the start of a new synergy between Shanghai Wings Media Co. Ltd. and dimsum, operated by SMG Entertainment Sdn Bhd, by signing a partnership agreement. SMG Entertainment Sdn Bhd is represented by by Mr. Roy Tan Kong Weng, Group Chief Operating Officer, Digital of Star Media Group Berhad and Ms. He Xiaolan, Vice President of Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group Co. Ltd/ General Manager of Shanghai Wings Media, Shanghai Media Group.
As one of the partners to land a branded video-on-demand offering on dimsum, Shanghai Wings Media Co. Ltd. will provide simulcast titles including the latest variety shows, documentaries, lifestyle programmes, film and drama series. Some of the content which are currently available on dimsum are Go Fighting! Season 3, Flowers on Trip with China, Go Fighting! Season 1 and 2, Who’s the King, Talent Singer Season 2, House of Dreams Season 2, Super Asia and Golden Night.
