dimsum Announced Winners for Short Video Competition #1MinuteChallenge

Subscription video-on-demand service, dimsum recently launched a short video competition, #1MinuteChallenge and announced the final winners today.

The two month campaign which started from September 1, 2019, was a challenge opened to students from participating tertiary institutions in Malaysia to submit a 1-minute video. Among the requirements needed in the competition is to showcase dimsum’s brand elements through their creativity. 

7 teams were shortlisted to produce their videos for final leg of the competition, and they were judged based on originality, creativity, storytelling, engagement and technical quality. The panel of judges were Group Chief Executive Officer of Star Media Group, Mr. Andreas Vogiatzakis, Chief Marketing Officer of dimsum, Miss Lam Swee Kim, and Mr. Ian Yee, Deputy Executive Editor and Producer of R.AGE. 

The winners were chosen through judges evaluation and online public voting from October 18 to 24. The Grand Prize winner is Cactus Production with their video From the Beginning, followed by First Runner-up Mameko Production with the video #dimsum_1MinuteChallenge, and Second Runner-up The BreezeBlockers with Welcome to the Family. The Grand Prize will be awarded with RM5000 cash plus 12 months of dimsum complimentary subscription, the 1st runner up wins RM3000 cash plus 6 months of dimsum complimentary subscription and 2nd runner up wins RM1500 cash plus 3 months of dimsum complimentary subscription.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Star Media Group, Mr. Andreas Vogiatzakis said: “Creativity has no boundaries and it may be very subjective. To the students here, never give up, never surrender. I am really impressed with the creativity, style and the diversity of the participating students to create a short video in 1 minute.” 

Commenting on the competition, Chief Marketing Officer of dimsum, Lam Swee Kim said: “We are thrilled to receive positive support and participations from students. We hope to introduce dimsum and reach out to younger audience through this challenge, and to discover unique talents amongst them.” 

Deputy Executive Editor and Producer of R.AGE, Mr. Ian Yee commented that: “I am highly encouraging students to take part as much as possible in these kinds of contests because this is a great opportunity to know the standard of this industry. You are the winner because you dare to take the challenge. Even if you fail, you need to figure out how you can do it better. ”
